Millie - Twisted Sketch #59

The twist for this weeks sketch was stars.  As I wasn't uploading it to their site I didn't bother with the stars bit, I just used the sketch and had a play with my new punches.  However I see now that one of the snowflakes has a star cut out of its centre!

Create 10 - day 8 and 9

This is day 8, using up random number stickers and scrapping an important event.  I chose our 24th wedding anniversary but I decided to die cut some numbers as I wanted to keep my stickers.  I realised when I photographed this that I hadn't actually stuck the red card to the base, or the circles (representing 24 years of marriage) but that has been sorted now.
This is day 9 and isn't finished yet - I'm not sure about this one so I've left it and I will keep coming back to it over the next few days until I am happy with it.  The idea was to use up those small scraps of ribbon and most of the bits I used were less than 4" long, so it was handy to get these out of my ribbon drawers.

These are my new Martha Stewart punches - I so love snowflakes so I had to have these even though they are only going to be used in the winter.

Create 10 - Day 10

It was the final class today - a mini book.  I loved making this, it was so easy and effective.  Holly's is trying to lose weight and Chris suggested that she take a photo of herself once a month to see her progress, so I thought I'd make a little journal for her to record her journey.  This is just a sample of some of the pages.  There is a place for photos, her weight loss and and thing else she'd like to jot down.

Create 10 day 5 - Love Hate

For this page we had to use papers we love and papers we hate - I struggled to find papers I hate because although I have some I don't like as much, I know they'll always come in useful for something.

Again, I have been using up some of my  Tiffany papers and the paper I have used as the second background layer - the paper I hate, is Kay and Co but I have no idea what.

Create 10 - day 4 Family

I'm getting to like these 8.5" x 11" pages!  The idea of this class was to use up some of our fibres, and boy do I have a lot to use up.  There was a template for the tree too which was a bit fiddly to cut out but it's done now and I'm glad I did it.

Create 10 - day 7 Me as a teenager

Made with scraps of papers I'd kept in a plastic bag for a projects such as this!  Normally when I have scraps I punch out flowers and circles from them to use at a later date.  I would never have dreamed of using them on a LO like this and am pleased with the overall effect.  Definitely one to try again.

Create 10 - Day 6

I still haven't caught up yet but I have finished yesterday's which was primarily to make a wall hanging.  As I didn't have any wooden frames, I did the secondary project - a layout.  It took me forever to sew all the circles down but I am glad I persevered.

Create 10 - Day 3

I've got a bit behind with these - this one is sundays, using up paper scraps to wrap around the heart and paper/fabric scraps for the flowers.
I've added a picture of me and Chris taken yesterday on our 24th wedding anniversary.

Create 10 - That's my boy

Today's class was using up paper scraps and making a handcut paper chain.  I made this page 8" x 11" as the class suggested, mainly because some of the paper strips across have been pleated and would have had to be joined if I'd done 12" x 12".
I have also found all my fancy edged scissors so some of the strips have been cut with these, some fringed and the others pleated.

Twisted Sketches #58 - Starboard Cottage

The twist for this weeks Twisted Sketches was texture and I've added this by distressing the edges of my papers although this doesn't show very well in the photo.
The papers are all Basic Grey, June Bug.  The large red button is made of fimo and was given to me by my Bijoux Belles teamie, Sue.

Create 10 - Happy Day

I've signed up to the Create 10 class again and it started today.  The idea was to use up scraps of card and our punches.
I used a circle and scallop punch and did a couple of bits freehand and also cut out some aliens/monsters to decorate my page.  I would never have dreamed of doing a page like this and am pleased how it turned out.  It's a lot more dimensional in real life and so looks better.

My life as a Dog

The weekly challenge over on UK Scrappers was to use bright colours, buttons, flowers, and the title of a film/television programme and this is the result.
This is Tuppenny Wee, who many of you know is my constant companion.  I expect at some point he'll have an album of his own.

Project 12 - June

Half way through the year!  There is alot of white space on the left and I really want to fill it, but I won't!

Clean but not tidy

I used the August guest team design member challenge sketch over on Sketchy Thursdays as my inspiration but I won't be entering this page as I should have used yellow somewhere on my layout and hand made an embellishment.  I may tweak it at some point but if I enter I think I'd rather do another layout completely because I am happy with how this has turned out.  In case you can't read the journalling it says "Even when Alfie has had a wash and brush up, he always manages to look scruffy.  If he were a real boy he'd be the one whose shirt tails were hanging out, one sock up and one down, tie all askew and a catapult hanging out of his back pocket!  But we love him!"
The papers I have had years and are WRMK Boho Chic.  I absolutely adore them.

untitiled

I'm not happy with this page but I don't know why, so I thought rather than have it on my desk and worry about it, I'd upload it, then I'll probably get some divine inspiration.  There is no title either - it was the first paddle in the sea and Chris was surprised how warm and clear the sea actually was.

Any suggestions for improvement would be welcome:)

Me & My Mum

From my July dip into my Bijoux Belles mojo jar I pulled out "scrap a picture of your Mum" which happened to be one of mine. This picture was taken last month and I wanted to scrap it, so I decided to use this for my July dip.

Twisted Sketches#57

The twist this week was sunshine.  I'm not really big on yellow so I thought I'd use the title of a song.  This is another of our holiday pics, loads more to go lol!

50th Birthday card

My brother in law is going to be 50 next week so I have made him a card and a little extra!  He likes chess, checked shirts, wind surfing, music and plays a mandolin.  If you click on the card you can see it much better.
I used A4 card folded in half length ways and the 50 is on a paper spring.
I also made him this little jar.
I saw this on a blog the other day and had to shamelessly copy it.
I nearly forgot - this arrived today.
MIL won him at the day centre and gave him to Holly but I really think he'd like to belong to me.  I'm sure Melman would enjoy his company at the retreat too.

Cheeky

Chris is getting to the stage where he hates having his photo taken, and most of the ones I take now are side or back views because he turns away from the camera or puts his hand up.  I was walking behind him the other day and took the first photo - he knew I was doing it so he started to walk silly, then he pulled his shorts down.  I don't think he expected me to a) take a picture of his behind and b) scrap it!
This picture has come out a bit dark so I might retake it tomorrow when the light is better.

Beautiful red necklace

I ordered this beauty from Tea Rose and it came today.  I am thrilled, it is just what I wanted.

Broken

I started this layout ages ago - it was a Twisted Sketches for the design team I think.  Anyway, I forgot about it and found it today when I was clearing my room a bit, so I finished it off.  Poor Holly broke her arm when she was 7.  It was at her cousin's 13th birthday party.  She was on the bouncy castle and some of the boys deflated it slightly so Holly could sit on the edge.  Then they inflated it and she flew off and landed in a heap on the ground.  She ended up with 2 pins in her wrist.  Six weeks later the plaster was taken off, was in the school playground, fell, and broke it again!

Ice Cream

Chris absolutely adores icecream so imagine his delight when this icecream parlour was opposite the little cottage we were staying in!  On the day of the England football match, he just popped over the road at half time to get his fix.  His favourite was nuts and strawberry sauce - oh and a flake.

I was getting ready to de-stone my cherries outside and put this old cloth on the table so I wouldn't lose any cherries down between the slats.  I went inside to get my pot of cherries and Alfie decided it was a nice place to catch some rays!

Some random holiday pictures

I'm not very good at taking pictures of Chris and I together when I have to hold the camera and look at it.  Usually I have half a head or someone is completely missing, so the So happy layout is a result of several attempts to get a picture of us together.  The title has 2 meanings - yes we were happy on our holiday and I was happy to get a decent shot!
The other layout is of Chris doing a bit of snorkelling.  Most mornings he'd get up about half 7 and go down to the sea and play around a bit.  Meanwhile I was back at the cottage catching some extra zzzzz's.  On this occasion, I went with him but it was mid morning.

Sketchy Thursdays 7.1 and UKs weekly challenge

I don't very often do double page layouts but I wanted to show how quiet the beach was so needed to use 3 photos.  Chris is actually on the first photo at the top in the centre, although you wouldn't know it!

cherry picking

When we took the dogs out tonight we noticed that "our" cherry tree was laden with ripe cherries so we took the doogs home, Chris got his step ladder and I got some plastic boxes and we went picking.  We managed to get 2kg which is pretty good in about half an hour.

There are some more cherry trees on another walk we take so we'll be checking them out over the next couple of days:)
