Blissful days

This is my entry into the weekly challenge set by the rikrakravers.  We had to use pink, green and white,  some rikrak, do some sewing - real or faux and we were given a sketch.

In hindsight, I should probably have waited until the light was better to take the photo of my layout:(

Ali's tag

I am in a swap with my UKs group, the Bijoux Belles called the 12 days of summer.  We were given a team member to buy 12 gifts costing no more than £12 and the person who was buying for me was Jen:)  We started opening our gifts on 21st June so today was day 8.  The tag numbering the present was made by Jen's 6 year old son, Ali.  He's made an excellent job of it and I can see he's going to be a very good crafter if he so chooses.  My gift, as you can see is (was) a rather delicious bar of chocolate!

Play along with Scrap Factor - week 11

This week we had to recreate an old layout using the same or similar photos.  This is my original page done when I first started scrapping:  If you click on the layout it will enlarge it.
and this is today's page:

I enjoyed doing this - my style (have I got one) has definitely changed over the time and I nearly always add something dimensional - usually flowers!

My craft room

Saturday scrap map from Creative Craft World - and a layout of my craft room.

How I manage to create anything is this mess is beyond me but occasionally I do.  I would create alot more if it was tidy and I was tidy, but I'm not so I don't.  If anyone has the secret of tidiness please would they pass it my way?  Thank you.

Wedding Card

Adam asked me to make a wedding card and I initially I said no as I'd got alot on and he'd left it until the last minute to ask me.  Anyway, guilt set in and I decided I'd do one and this is the result.
This is the box.

I got the inspirationfor this when blog hopping awhile ago but I didn't save the link and so I can't credit whoever the blog belonged to.

Millie

This weeks challenge on UKs was - "For 10 points, lets scrap the animals and birds that co exist with us in our everyday lives.

For 5 points, go MAD with embellishments...THE MORE, THE BETTER!

For 5 points, I'm liking the colour blue at the moment, so I want to see a splash or a lot of blue on your layouts.

For 10 points, I like to concentrate on one area of the page on some of my layouts, be it a corner or the whole of one edge and that is what I would like you lovely scrappers to do."

I chose to scrap a picture of Millie taken by Holly on her iPhone.
The tag pulls out and this is what is on it:-
and on the back:-

Tyne Cot

These photographs were taken by Chris when he went with his Dad to France/Belgium to see some of the war graves and battlefields from WW1.  Now Chris is no photographer and on more than one occasion I have asked him to take a photo for me and all he's managed is to take one of himself because he pointed the camera the wrong way.  So when he produced these pictures (and alot more besides) I was very pleased, especially the close up of the poppy - it's actually in focus!
The layout was done for the Play along with Scrap Factor on UKs and the brief was:- no patterned paper.  I decided to go back to basics as the photos themselves tell the story and I just added some stamped poppies.  There is journalling in the form of a pull out tag underneath the big poppy and it reads: "Tyne Cot Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and Memorial to the Missing is a burial ground for the dead of WW1 in the Ypres Salient on the western front.  The cemetery grounds were assigned to the UK in recognition of the sacrifices made by the British Empire in the defence and liberation of Belgium during the ware.  It is the largest cemetery for the Commonwealth forces in the world."

Looking so fly - saturday's scrap map for Creative Craft World

This week's sketch was designed by Lou - I really will have to learn how to attach the sketch at some point!  The theme was bright and bold.  I chose this photo of Adam dressed in a wig and my duffel coat!  Both my children have always loved dressing up - going to charity shops and buying all sorts of weird creations and they don't feel uncomfortable walking down the street in their finery!!
The title came from Holly.  I'd never heard the expression but I asked her what would be a streetwise type title for this photo.  I did check on the internet and it does mean looking good!!

Hartland Point

I had fun making this layout.  I am playing along with Scrap Factor this week and the brief was "This week we want to see you push the boundaries of scrapping with your most innovative techniques to create unique texture on your page"

I used a pizza box lid cut into a 12" square, spritzed some blue and green  tissue paper with glimmer mists, screwed them up, let them dry and then glued them onto the base.  I added some slate from the garden path, some shells, a couple of rub on seagulls and some scrim out of the garage and job done:D

Sunset over Furzton

I am disappointed in this for 2 reasons - firstly the sky was actually darker than this in reality but I took this pic with my iPhone so as far as I know, there were no settings to alter (not that I would have, had there been any) and secondly, I don't have any photo editing packages and even if I did, again I wouldn't have a clue how to use them, so the background of the layout where I have used blue and pink paint, hardly shows up at all.

I did enjoy playing with my paints and have done some backgrounds to use for cards which I will upload when they are finished.

Helping Dad - saturday scrap map Creative Craft World

I found this sketch of Sarah's quite difficult for some reason, but anyway, here is what I have come up with.  We had to do some stamping which I completely forgot about so stamped and cut out a couple of birds and added them.
